Revs and Cancun

Buenos Dias,

Another tale from my travels… right now I am in Cancun, Mexico… tough life, I know.. We arrived Thursday afternoon after a fairly long day of travel… I guess it has been a little more than a week since I left Japan. Since then I returned to Foxboro area and resumed training with the Revolution. I signed a contract with the team so I am officially with them and on the payroll. Also one of my really good friends and previous teammate on the Richmond Strikers and Godwin high school teams, Brad Knighton, signed as well. We both have settled in with a host families. I am living with Don Love and his wife Susan Ranney in Hopkinton, MA. They are great, and are very welcoming as I feel like I am at home. They have a 20 year old daughter and 16 year old son. The daughter is in college near Boston. I plan to put up some pictures soon of the house and area.

Okay so back to Cancun right… now I am sitting in the lobby. A group of the guys are playing cards and hanging out in the lobby. The hotel is great, pools and bars in every direction and situated right on the beach with beautiful light blue water. There is some live music in the big open lobby/bar right now, flutes, acoustic guitars, and hand drums… a little local flavor. This morning we had training which was a rude awakening to the mid 80 degree weather here. We left Boston after several days in a row with highs in the teens. We also had a miscommunication with the supplier of our bottled water and we all had to make it through our first practice in the heat with only 2, 12 ounce bottles of water and since we cant drink the tap water here because of Montezuma’s revenged it made it a little uncomfortable. Poor babies, in Cancun and a little thirsty huh… we got back to the all-inclusive hotel and had lunch and then took a nap. Brad and I went body-boarding in the afternoon and then had dinner. The rest of the night I plan to relax and get to bed early and get really rested for tomorrow. While we are down here we play 2 games one Tuesday and one Thursday against local teams. Otherwise, light training in the morning and team bonding are on tap. Until then…
